Chişinăul închide ochii la această schemă, deşi importurile uriaşe depăşesc de trei ori cererea de piaţă din Transnistria (Legitimate Market Demand) de 500 de milioane de pachete anual. Astfel, valoarea totală a ţigărilor importate în anul curent este de aproape 50 de milioane de dolari, având în vedere că un tir de ţigări costă în medie 150.000 de dolari. Din totalul de 3,3 miliarde de ţigarete aduse în Moldova, circa 1,45 miliarde, echivalentul a 145 de tiruri, au mers numai în regiunea transnistreană.
